A VERY rare hard to find agave endemic to the sky islands of Northern Mexico’s Sonoran Desert. It’s species name, Pelona, comes from the Spanish word Pelon, meaning bald. This refers to the lack of sharp teeth along the edges of the leaves. This beautiful agave can reach up to 3 feet high and wide. Colors can range from orange to deep green. This agave wants native soil with no amendments. This agave is a prize for your garden. Although we don’t have a great picture of it, google Mescal Pelon Agave, they are spectacular!
